Again Nature Rages #1LinerWeds

As I sit here in Iowa, I watch places that I am familiar with being inundated by yet another late season storm. The hurricanes that hit at the back end of the season are always more fierce and this one is still going strong hitting towns I left to move to the mid-west. As the Weather Channel showed videos from St George Island in Florida, I saw water as it moved through someone’s screen porch with the waves slapping against the ceiling. I was heart sick. I had lived through that when young and I fully understand what they are going through. The storm now is moving through my home state of Georgia and family and friends are hiding and hoping for the best.

Mother Nature as we call it can be a beast that consumes whatever it touches. Whether it be from hurricanes, tornadoes, snow storms, nor’ easters and even fire storms nature calls the shots and we try as we might to survive the onslaught. Sometimes we don’t survive like we had hoped but at the end of the day if no one gets hurt its a good day. Stuff can be replaced.

So my prayers go out to all the rescue personnel, all the line repairmen, and all of those who endured today and to those still in its path.

And in closing as I always, please be kind to those having difficult days. Kindness during tragedy carries even more weight.

Clippety-clop…#1 Liner Wednesdays

What a funny word used generally for the sound a horse makes with his hooves as he walks across a hard surface. Being raised around horses, I never really heard that sound.

And there is the rat-tat-tat of a woodpecker.Or how about the clickety-clack a train makes going down the train track. The ribbon rails of today probably changed that sound.

It always strikes me funny how we try to turn sounds into words. Or colors into numbers, what? Sorry, that was a music flashback…the color 9.

There are times you just can’t put life into words but yet we all know exactly what each other is talking about. It shows interconnection of likeness. What a concept. If we allow ourselves to be real for just a moment we realize just how very similar we are. How sounds, sights, smells…joys and fears affect us. Turning these into words can drive our emotions, from our heart and inner most places. And sharing the words with others can do many things. It can bring joy or laughter to a hurting soul. It can bring rage and disgust and spring people into action of an injustice. It can calm a harried spirit and bring peace sad and depress heart.

I think those of us who use words try to hard to make sure the words make sense and to draw the reader into what we are trying to convey. And therefore we can put ourselves into a holding pattern of uncertainty. Sometime the message just doesn’t make sense to the masses and only to the writer.  But the writer needs to tell his message hoping that somewhere it may resonate with one person.

Shelley‘s challenge for today is a subject I have yet to encounter. A holding pattern. I am just too new at it yet to get stuck. I look at nature and old photos and currently have lots of ideas. But I am also aware that those days will come. And hope I learn enough form those more experienced to avoid a too long of holding pattern.

On Linda Hills #1 liner Wednesday, she threw out a funny word that brought this post to life. And there have been many beautiful pictures from photo bloggers like Debbie, Irene, Jansen, Xenia & Scifihammy. I shout to all of you for allowing me to enjoy what you do.

Remember in all things be Kind. I say this mostly as a reminder to me for anything I do.

Freedom Has Arrived #1LinerWeds

Wow, to be housebound for 6 weeks and now being let out to ‘somewhat’ roam is a wonderful taste of freedom. I will combine this post to two separate challenges – One for Linda G Hills One Liner Wednesdays  for ‘perception is everything’ and Shelley’s Quaint Revival 30 Day Challenge for new bloggers using prompts to keep us going.

I realize it is late, but technically it is still Wednesday here in Iowa. Its 5:30, the sun is still shinning, so I am dual submitting. So my perception is that there is still enough time.

The Dr. has released me from the roll around cart on Monday to be able to flat walk on the heel while still wearing the protective boot. So my perception is I am free, although my daughter was not happy I drove without her perceiving for herself that I would be OK. But what a wonderful prompt to encourage me out of the house, into the car and I actually went to bible study today and got to connect with friends. The word prompt has so many uses but in reality the same meaning – to push us into action.

A lot of what I am finding that is prompting me in blogging is photography from other bloggers. I love seeing what prompts their eye to focus in on a subject. The beauty and interest they see is prompting me to pull out my camera and start enjoying what I see. Especially since now that I am retired. Time for fun…when I can walk safely again. Will have to wait until spring as the other foot is schedule for same surgery in late November. (Sigh) Poor balance from crooked bones is what is prompting the surgeries. We will see if it really helps or am I just getting the ‘O’ word…(old).

Ah, well…onward we go in this life of still uncharted waters.
