Again we are faced with the question from Cee…is it flower or weed…and what really is the difference. I figure its a person perspective whether the gardening gurus of the world recognize the beauty enough to place it in his garden. But to the Creator above, I think He loves them all.
This lovely four petaled beauty has deep purple veins against a lavender petal. A small flower but striking in my mind. And the leaf eating critters loves it leaves as they are filled with holes. So I give you little purple flower with yellow stamens.
As you go about you day, remember all things love kindness, even flowers. So be kind to all things.
Even though the yard is slowly changing seasons, it still has much to say about its beauty. The Flower of the Day challenge by Cee always brings smiles to all of us across the world as we share what we see.
Today my begonias are beginning to show some fall leaf color as the nights are cooling down but days are still warm.
As the season changes, let us not change in showing the beauty of kindness.
Cee’s Flower of the Day is always a favorite and I am being a bit of a broken record as its Sunflowers…again. This will probably be the last picture of them in my yard for this season because the seeds are forming and the blooms are getting HEAVY. When you have a single bloom that is easily 24 inches across, that is huge, especially when its a good 10-12 feet in the air.
The bloom is so heavy, the stalk has arched over to keep from breaking.
I have square “working” hands like my dad but you can still see I could not get the entire leaf in the photo. It measures 16 inches at its widest point.
I still have one stalk left of the multiple blooms variety. They too are dwindling, not only from the storm last week but their seeds make them heavy as well. These blooms are only 6-8 inches across but when you have well over 25 blooms on one stalk, that’s a lot of weight.
But the bees still love them. These multiple blooms brought in a lot of bees this year as well as goldfinches and sparrows.
I close as always with a reminder to be kind. If we as creation from the maker above could show the kindness to others as he has always shown us, what a different world this would be.
Well technically we are stretching the title a bit – Sun(flower) and moon. I was out very early this morning. The dew was still heavy on the grass and I saw the giants were blooming.

I started not to take the photo as the flower was still in the dark but then I saw the moon and had to take the picture. For some of us its the little things that make us smile.
Once the sun got over the hill and trees behind us, I took another picture. It really is the bigger of my sunflowers this year. I have two single bloom giants, and the blooms are huge.
This picture gives you a good idea of their height. My fence is four feet high. So these are over ten feet high. The sunflowers on the other side of the yard all had multiple blooms. The blooms are not as huge but the plants still top out over ten feet.
This shot was taken early morning with the sun just breaking through the trees behind the hill. The second one is the same shot but with good sunshine.
There are only four stalks here with well over fifty blooms. Nature is an amazing way to see all of its variations of life. The birds and the bees have really enjoyed them and due to the seeds they have already dropped, I will probably have sunflowers again next year.
I close as normal with a reminder to always be kind. It can lighten someone’s day.
My violets are making a comeback from near disaster where they were knocked to the floor and nearly trampled to death by Daisy due to the workman outside her window…not allowed in her book.
Since she was so small after the accident, I placed her in the pot with my spider plant and the spider plant is making sure the violet is cared for by her long protective leaves. Orange bird is watching as well and we must not forget Oscar the elephant – a trio of protectors.
Kindness is also a protection we can enjoy. It can wrap warmly around you helping you feel safe. Share kindness when ever you can. It will help someone smile.
Cee’s pictures of flowers that she shares with us shows the possible beauty that is all around us. I may have neglected to share any of my dianthus this year, so I am doing it now. They are a favorite because the are perennials, coming back for several years before dying out.
These have been a fun flower to have as their color is so rich and the reds look velvety. Those of us who enjoy growing flowers love to share the kindness flowers seem to bring. They will always bring about a smile regardless of bloom size or color. So let’s try to follow their example.
I have shared this particular sunflower before but I am giving you an update, it bloomed. And Cee always reminds us of the beauty in all that we see.

I shared an earlier photo when this sunflower, planted by the birds, first started growing. I didn’t have the heart to pluck it out. And now its a miniature, at 3+ feet tall, of its brothers who are currently standing at 12-14 feet high. A truth that nature, if given the chance, will survive.
May we all be survivors having the stamina, courage and determination to continue on. And while you are surviving, remember to be kind. It shows extra courage and perseverance.

Early this morning the dew point was heavy and it rested thickly on the petals of my red daisy.

There is always something beautiful to catch you eye if you just look. While you are looking remember even flowers understand kindness.
Cee always asks us to play with FOTD anyway that makes us smile or can make anyone else smile. I give you the perfect umbrella for the passing frog.
This also shows that if we don’t get some dry weather soon, the grass will be taller than the S’room. Remember that regardless of any situation, you can still be kind.
Todays Flower of the Day is coming again from the mystery seeds that were embedded in a roll up of a ‘perfect garden starter’. I am afraid they are more weed than flower but weeds create flowers as well so it’s still up for debate.
The flower is quite small, about 1.5 inch in diameter and looks to be a multi-petaled flower.
But the macro shows that each one of the ‘petals’ is actually a tiny tube type flower. So the flower is a cluster of tiny flowers around a central pistil.
The amazing beauty of tiny flowers that you get to zoom in and see all the delicate parts of it shows you the unimaginable beauty of creation.
Lets remember to show kindness and create our own type of beauty.
