Good morning friends. Hope you are all well this morning. I bring you bits of encouragement today hoping to ease a small part of your anxieties and fears. I create these encouragements each day for my church friends and thought I would share this one with you.
In a world surrounded by the same pandemic attacking countries with no reason of sanity with over 720 thousand cases across more than 150 countries, we are scared. We are all in this together praying for the same cure. In our state today we lost an infant. An infant who had not had enough time to grow any type of immune system. A virus that shows no apathy to the young, the old, the sick or the weak and carried by loved ones who mean no harm.
But I believe in our God. A God that loves every single person on this planet regardless of their religion because he did not create a religion for us to follow. He created us to follow him. He wants a true relationship with you and you with him. He loves you.
Musicians are wonderful tools God uses to remind us that he is always there for us to come to. They write songs of courage, remembrance of his love, remembrance of our love for him and we lean on those songs in hard times.
Casting Crowns wrote a song that I think fits well with the situation this world is finding itself in and how we just need to lean on him and Praise Him in the Storm. And while God sometimes can calm a storm, sometimes he allows the storm to rage while calming us with reassurance that he is in control. Allow your heart to praise God in this current storm and feel his calmness reassurance for you.
Sometime when the storms seem out of control, kindness can come in forms to help settle your heart. Be that calmness for others who so desperately need it.
The saying of good intentions paving the road to hell could not be truer in my house. It was my good intentions to get Mimi a companion to give her company on days that I worked. It was my good intentions that I brought in a puppy home so Mimi could have a playmate.
Now I have two guard dogs who think plastic bags flying in the wind
and the mailman are mortal enemies…
Two dogs who think the furniture is for their use and benefit…
And dogs who have toys, real and created, scattered from hither to yon and run thought the house at break neck speed.
I am in hopes that my intentions play out well as settle down and have less crazy and more relaxing and quiet times.
Hoping for good results of all you good intentions through out the new year. And try to be kind. Even if the outcome of a good intentions is not great, if kindness is used, goodness usually always happens.
Irene of Heaven’s Sunshine has a fun Monday post of macros which usually in my mind goes to tiny flowers and insects. Today with 3 inches of snow on the ground, I was not going to find that but I did see these on the steps going down to the garage.
To me they stated, “We know it snowed but we are still here.” Nature has a marvelous way of survival even in hard natural disasters, which of course this is not.
But we can learn from nature in more ways than this. We are stronger and more resilient that we realize. And as the quote says that I have seen several times… “Sometimes God calms the storms and sometimes he calms us and lets the storm rage.”
So stand strong and be kind. You may just be the hope someone else is looking for and together your are even stronger that alone.
Do you have things you see that bring back an instant memory from the past…preferable a good memory. It is a shame that bad ones come around as well but lets focus on the things that make you smile or laugh.
One in particular for me is a bright moon. When my oldest was about 2 1/2, we lived in Asheville N.C. A beautiful place. We had friends who knew rangers who allowed people onto the mountain fire trails to pick up felled trees for firewood. It helps the people and aides in forest cleanup.
So off we go in search of firewood and it was right chilly. I had my son all bundled up like an Eskimo and we got enough wood to last all season. Coming home it was a clear cold cloudless night and my son spotted the moon. He had just started talking so when he pointed at that bright light in the sky and said moon as only a two year old can, it was a precious time for me and a memory shared in the family through many years.
I thought of that night last night with a clear sky after several days of damp dreariness. As I was walking the dogs, the moon was perfectly framed in my neighbor’s tree and Venus, I think, is located just to the right. So I thought I would share that spot of peace and a memory that makes me smile.
The world can really be beautiful if you still the madness of the day and try to look through God’s eyes at His creation. I envision God as He was creating all of this for US with him thinking…’Wait until, they see this,” and 90% of the time we miss the gift. I fully believe He knows the trials we are going through and throws little things our way to distract that trial, for a brief moment to bring us a moment of peace. If we can focus on the brief moment of peace, the moment can stretch and become bigger, allowing us extra peace.
May you all find the small gifts of love thrown in your path that make you smile and for a split second forget the pulls of every day life. And as you smile from these tiny gifts, may they grow exponentially allowing you to share you the gift of peace you feel which will bring you more happiness, more memories and more peace. With the added peace you feel, may you also add kindness in all you do.
The appreciation of beauty even in small things gives us a chance to enjoy the artist vision, whether it be man or God. I have been doing the windows of my church and today’s focus is on a couple of the single smaller windows whose color are just as vibrant and beautiful. These windows face a courtyard on the side of the church.
I do apologize for the crooked pictures as I was making sure I had the camera straight with me instead of the slant to the floor which makes them look crooked. But their beauty still shows through. I will do better with the big windows left to show.
In this fun and wonderful medium of blogosphere, if that is such a word, we are gifted with sharing the pictures and words of beauty that move us. What a wonderful thing to be able to do. I will never be able to go across the “pond” but am so grateful for all the photographers who do or live there and share their work for all of us to enjoy.
As an always reminders to me as to anyone who may read my post, remember the most beautiful things to share is love and kindness. Many of the notes I share are beautiful pictures with gentle words expressing the importance of always being kind. I am a firm believer that the smallest act of kindness can shatter a dark gloomy day so I always close with reminders of kindness. Maybe if we spread enough kindness it will begin to take hold and change the world for the good it can do.
Never forget the power of kindness.
How bright your light shines
In the darkest evening sky
Your light shows His love
My small camera can not show the beauty I saw as the moon rose yesterday with a clear sky after several days of rain. The ‘man in the moon’ was easily seen. It was a welcome sight.
Never forget the love God has for you. He even shows you in his night light. Enjoy its beauty and spread His love by being kind.
“And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20b
Today’s devotion from Jesus Calling by Sarah Young was right on for me. ‘My Presence with you is both a promise and a protection.’
What an awesome reminder. As humans we tend to forget that and get wrapped up in our own self pity and despair, or ride that train of pride and self will forgetting who got us where we are or who has us protected in his hands. ‘The way to stay on the path of life is to keep your focus on Me.’ Awareness of God’s presence has always been our best protection whether on the mountain top of great things or deep in the valley of fear. Never let go of His hand.
Where ever you are in your life journey, remember His presence and try to reflect the grace, love and kindness he has bestowed on you to others. Its a way to make you feel even better than you are making others feel.
Our attitudes toward all our of trials in this life is what helps us get through them, as long as they don’t own us. So I challenge you this day to keep your spirits bright and to not let the “Negative Nancy” get the opportunity to fill your thoughts.
Trails of Life
We start out eager and young on this wide trail of life,
In hopes of receiving great fortune and very little strife.
Curvy paths seem smooth, with beauty brightening the day
No concerns considered of what may happen on the way.
But not all paths are rosy along this narrow way
And trials of life can happen causing you deep dismay
Don’t let that sadness take hold of you, creating a deep frown
But rise above that sad trial and turn it upside down.
And as always when you can smile, you can be kind so try always to be kind.
I worked today so did not get to the computer until this afternoon and I found a surprise…
Congratulations, its your anniversary. Wow, I did not realize I had been blogging now for 1 year. I have talked to so many wonderful people all over the world and I thank you all for making this so much fun.
Thank you to all of the photographers I share such beautiful photographs with; Thank you to all the people who share my Christian beliefs with words of encouragement and profound truths; Thank you to all the people who share the funny stuff that make us all laugh at ourselves because we know we have done what you just talked about; Thank you to all the experienced bloggers who have helped us newbies make this an enjoyable time; And thank you to all who read my words from seriousness to silliness and give me such encouraging comments. May we all use this medium to spread the love and kindness that is meant to be spread across this world.
My favorite(for now) picture I have found shows how kindness can spread like the ripples when a pebble has been tossed in the water, so I challenge all, as I do with every post, to be kind. There is just not enough of it in this world and we need to increase it use so it will spread everywhere. Again, thank you for all your love.
