CMMC, Close Up & Macro

I love playing with macros and was so busy last month there was no time to play, so today we play. Today is the 3rd day of the new year…not that far from Christmas and since I did not play with Christmas pics this year, lets at least honor the fir tree. I have two in my yard that I planted about 10 years ago and they are finally big enough to really enjoy. I love how the needles hold onto the rain.

And spider webs make the rain look like its floating in mid-air.

Plants, just like people, you always have that one limb that wants to do things differently by swirling around the end instead pf being straight.

And since we are playing with a Christmas tree, lets get a night shot because I was able to put lights on it this year.

As we start this new year, lets remember to let our light of kindness shine brightly giving others a light of hope for their seemingly dark circumstance.

CMMC, The Oddball Trellis

In accepting the challenge from Cee on CMMC combined with Kammie’s Oddball Challenge, I give you the cucumber trellis. We saw this idea on Facebook and with the help of some local college students who help us get our community garden setup – they made us two.

The theory is that the cucumber growing in the planter tub will climb up the chicken wire of the trellis and the fruit will slide through the holes of the chicken wire and make for easier and cleaner picking.

With the mindset of “build it and they will come” – we built it to see if it really works. It was a fun and interesting project and I will post later in the season as the cucumbers grow. In reality, they would grow a lot better if the squirrels would leave them alone. 🥺

As with any challenge in life, it can be made a little easier if, kindness is the marker used to traverse the chaos.

CMMC October Close Up & Micro

Cee’s fun midweek challenge usually makes you think outside the box but close ups and micros are a favorite. Since I was out taking pictures for today’s FOTD, I was able to capture some close ups.

Red Daisy

Every spring I promise myself that I will save all the little tags so that I can properly identify the flowers that I plant. And every fall I cant remember their name. 🤔

So for now I am calling this a red daisy. Its in that family somewhere. But I love the tiny white fuzzy stamen type things on this particular flower.

Here we have a bee enjoying the nectar from a marigold. He was so still I thought he was dead but no, he flew off fine, he was just busy and not bothered by me.

I love the red marigolds with their yellow trimmed petals and rich yellow center. Their fragrance is not pleasant but we plant them for that purpose. The moles don’t like their smell either, so it keeps them mostly out of the yard.

Another great capture is sharing the beauty of kindness close up. It may start with that one kind act but the affects reach past you on to others.

So Always Be Kind

CMMC September Close Up or Macro

For Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge, I am combining close ups and macros. I took two photos of each flower, a close up and a macro, then decided which I liked best. Some I liked both. For starters, I can finally reach the bloom of one of my sunflowers because the weight of the massive bloom filled with seeds is causing the stalk to bend over. This is actually a close and a closer. The closer one you can seed the seeds.

Some of my flowers have gotten real leggy but their blooms are still beautiful.

Two variations of marigolds. You can see that the inner part has tiny blooms that open as well.

The center of these also have those tiny buds that open like flowers

Some of the mums are hitting a second wave of blooming.

Dianthus are always a favorite
Petunias
Rich Purple

In closing we have the light pink center of a dark pink geranium.

A reminder that we don’t have to be in the center to be beautiful. Beauty, like kindness, comes from within. So, be beautifully kind.

CMMC August Close-Up & Macro

Cees’ Close Up challenge is always a reason for me to play with my camera and try to figure out what I am doing. Now that August is upon us, the bee are closing in on the end of summer rush to gain as much nectar as possible.

I am always fascinated at the details that come through with the macro lens. Its amazing how fuzzy bees are…and how they let me get that close.

Here is a reminder to always be kind. You can even be the fuzzy kind, up close and personal. but not for a macro amount. Be kind in a big way.

CMMC – May Pick a Topic

Cee has created a fun mid week challenge, CMMC, that can really get you thinking.

Due to where I currently live, there are various forms of murals painted on the older building downtown. I chose one that I may have posted before but it so depicts this area by the Mississippi River.

Even though the paint is beginning to chip, it is still a marvel to see. There is a railroad that runs on both side of the river and occasionally you will see a restored paddle boat taking a tour group up river. Beauty of a era gone by.

As we remember the eras of long ago, remember the simplices and the kindness we tried to share where we could and try to share them again today.

Regardless of the generation you are in, Always Be Kind.

CMMC – May Color – Purple

Hello there friends. This is my take on Cee’s challenge for Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge (CMMC).  The color topic is Purple. Purple is the bestest color ever, especially with flowers and spring.

Campanula
Clementis

The Clementi’s petals as such a lovely purple but the center is a rich dark purple. Purple is a royal color for kings and queens but the beauty of flowers can not be beat.

And as always, remember the beauty of kindness. It should be given freely.

Always be kind

CMMC – April Letter E

What a fun challenge tonight. I recently bought this lamp as I have a thing for elephants. So, I added a poem to fit in with Cee’s Midweek Madness Challenge. Hope it makes you smile.

Elephant Light

It just a lamp that belonged to me mum

It melts wax, smelling the room of plum

She called it wise because it’s an elephant

An animal who’s strength is significant

But the strongest part of an elephant is heart

For they carry much love for all to be part

Their wisdom is shared all through the herd

From the oldest bull to the youngest one heard

The lessons they teach, are lessons for all

For man needs these lesson, most of all

And as always I remind you to be kind and what better picture that to also have an elephant showing the kindness and playful side of love.

Always Be Kind
