CFFC, Roofs

Cee has challenged us with a fun topic this time of ROOFS. Its a part of our homes we sometimes don’t think about until weather is bad, then we are oh so grateful. I have a small leak around my vent so I have someone coming to look at it Thursday. But when I think of interesting roof lines, I think of the old beautifully architecture you usually find on castles or cathedrals. Since we don’t have either of those in the midwest, here are some wonderful old church roofs, with a few others mixed in.

And then next one is not mine but proof of the hail damage we can get here.

The last one is a fun one down at the river…where the musician play during festival times.

And as I always close with a reminder of wherever you are you can always find an opportunity to be kind.

City of No Imagination

I have been in some cities where they allow in the imagination of various groups to decorate the fire hydrants tastefully to enhance an area of the city. Not us. We are boring. When I was young, down south, they were all red, then when I was a teenager, I remember a mass repainting of them all to silver. Here they are a flat boring yellow – both sides of the river, different states, same boring yellow, different style caps.

Below are some of the more creative ones google had in their picture library which I thought were awesome and wanted to share. The gumball machine was really cool.

I vote for more creativity that displays real talent, not just slapping on paint to be different. In Cee’s Fun Foto weekly challenge, she sent us off to find fire hydrants, possibly looking for ones similar to what google has… we don’t have those here.

And while the saying may be true below…..

True that!

Try to remember to always be kind.

A Fun Morning, Garden & Challenges

After an exceptionally  busy week, I am glad to have today to myself. I need to cut grass but it will still be there tomorrow. So I decided to go the Vander Veer Botanical Park and walk around. Besides the play area for the children, there are winding sidewalks through the flowers, several fountains and the pond that the ducks and geese love. With all that I saw I actually got neat shots for several challenges so this is a 5 in 1 post tying several wonderful bloggers and their challenges in one post. With Nancy Merrill’s weekly challenge of Yellow, Cee’s Fun Photo Challenge of Tree, Granny Shot It’s 2 challenges of Bird of the Day and Water Water Everywhere and finishing off with Cee’s Flower of the Day, almost forgot about that one.

The fun we can have experiencing each others challenges only helps us to grow more and sometimes experience life with a little different view.

Starting at the top with Nancy’s challenge of yellow, evidently that is the theme for this season. Much beautiful yellow was spread in this particular section of the park. With star shaped beds, raised beds, flower shaped beds all nestled around a historical fountain to bring in  Granny’s Water challenge.

The fountain shots are in sequence of the water flow timers.

On the other side of the park is the duck pond with many ducks and geese who know that people will feed them from the corn dispenser provided. And the geese are funny chasing off others of their clan showing who is boss. I thought BOTD fit well here, they all wanted to be picked as top bird of the day.

At the edge of the park is a very old tree that is beginning to look rough but still holding its own. Said to be the largest of it specie growing in the US. This is placed in with Cee’s CFFC for tree.

And last but not at all least is Cee’s FOTD, a closeup of one of the yellow mum like daisy beauties. I love it when there are flowers inside a flower. So cool. Things I would never have noticed before taking close up pictures of flowers. You learn every day if you allow it.

With all this fun you can’t help but smile at the beauty surrounding you. So lets reflect this beauty with kindness and make the world a happier place.

More yellow flowers.

The Real Bosses, CFFC

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge for this week is probably my favorite subject but we are telling the story from a different angle to ask the age old question….’Who really is the boss in my life?’

Is it Royal King Max who makes his demands known as he is fully aware when it gets to be 5:00 pm because  he is an excellent teller of time…..

anim3

Or maybe it is Police Chief Mimi who guards the roost and gives me those exasperated looks when I don’t jump to her panic state on her views of danger or the very idea that someone would walk on her sidewalk.

Although she knows when True Thief arrives she is immediately allowed out for the chase…as long as her 20 foot chain will allow. The True Thief get a double photo op for pose clarifications. Do note the onlooker’s disgust of the Thief stealing their goods.

Then of course there is Scrappy who hopes to pickup any tidbits left from Thief or dropped by others enjoying the goods that I put out for them.

Chip

And boy do they get bossy when the feeder is empty…pecking on the window and such…

So really who is the boss of this house…’cuz it sure ain’t us humans.

But I am sure they would all agree that kindness is a strong factor in all manners of life so remember to always be kind.

Double Up for Cee, FOTD & #5

Since Cee has the wonderful lists for challenges, sometimes a single post could quality for multiple challenges. I am a major list person so I appreciate lists. So today my daylilies have really started blooming and this picture fits for two of her challenges, the FOTD and things of 5.

Five Yellow Daylilies

I do so enjoy my flowers. They bring me joy and happiness as they grow and bloom. Even the unexpected ones planted by my helpers, the birds. When life makes you smile, remember to share that smile to help brighten someone’s day.

Letters and Number Challenge

Since it is lunch time and I am in the kitchen, its the perfect place for letters and numbers. Our kitchens are not always for food but are also our hub of organization and a center for family, at least in my kitchen. Stuff is stuck all over the fridge.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week is Letters and Numbers so enjoy my humor as I eat lunch.

As you have fun throughout your day remember not everyone is having fun. Share a smile and be kind. It may just brighten their day.

Do Spiders Fly???, Fun Challenges

The antics of spiders in web-making is amazing to me…as long as they stay outside. Jansen Photo’s challenge today is Radiant. I was not sure if I could play with this challenge but the picture I took of the web I thought was neat showing the sun radiating across it and the light fracturing as it hit the window and camera lens.

Web is over 5′ high and measures nearly 6′ in length to a nearby flower

I so enjoy sitting on my couch writing where I can watch the antics of the birds a they come to feed on my three feeders. Today they became part of Cee’s photo challenge of  3. Three feeders and three birds feeding if not more.

Or how about the beauty of my miniature orchid with it 3 flowers on one stem.

The fun we have sharing our enjoyment of photography and blogging with each other can be so inspiring. Thanks to all who share what they love.

And as we share the fun, remember to share in the kindness of the fun. Kindness brings smiles and makes the fun last.
