Flower of the Day, 8/15/19

Man, where did this month go. I have been so busy this month I cant believe its half over. The air is beginning to cool just a bit so I know the flower will be gone by the end of September but I am really enjoying them now.

Geranium

Now that the June bugs are finally gone, my geranium is getting a second wind. I love the blush of white in the center.

Never forget just how beautiful you are as you were made just as special as any flower ever made. We are all precious in His sight. Reflect your beauty and always be kind, it reflects His beauty.

Sunshine’s Macro Monday #4, FOTD

This past week was a zoomer but I did get a few pictures of the beauty that I saw. I will tie in with Irene’s Sunshine Macro Monday and Cee’s Flower of the Day.

FOTD5

I can not remember what type of flower this is but it has been pretty all summer. Its leaves are dark green and kind of elongated heart shaped. And the plant shows two different types of blooms – the single like on the left and the full rose type like on the right.

And as with all things created by our loving God above, remember to always be kind.

Petunias, FOTD

Cee’s fun challenge for Flower of the Day has nee especially fun for me. Don’t know if it is because my flowers this year have been so lovely or I have been more aware of their beauty – probably some of both.

My petunias have been exceptionally full in one of my hanging baskets and thought I would share.

Purple is always a good color

The short lived life of a Petunia blossom reminds me how fast life zooms past us. We must grow and bloom where God has placed us and share out God given beauty and love with all we come in contact with. And always be kind.

Vinca, Resilient Little Flower, FOTD

What a weather roller coaster this area has ridden this year.  Record snow fall, record cold, 90+ day flood, and now record heat and back to drought after all that water. And still nature shows her beauty. This is my first year planting Vinca’s but they are so hearty I will make sure to plant them next year.

I have enclosed all three colors – don’t want any flower’s feeling hurt at not being included – yes they have feeling too. Just ask the shrimp test, another post for another day.

Let’s enjoy the beauty of Vincas.

Cee’s fun prompt that allows us to share our flower pictures is Flower of the Day. Come join in and see the beauty all around. And as always, remember to be kind.

Today’s Flower of the Day, FOTD

This summer has been exceptional for lilies. Those in my yard are just about gone but they are still beautiful around the church so I am posting one of the normal color I knew growing up.

Day Lily

Cee has given us such a fun prompt for summer with FOTD. What ever are we going to do when it snows, oh yea, the bottom have of the globe gets to play.  Enjoy the flowers as you have them, then go to the inside botanical gardens when it gets cold so you can still smile and enjoy their beauty.

Flowers for me inspire hope. Hope inspires encouragement. Encouragement inspires kindness. Kindness in spires Joy. Joy = beauty in flowers. A never ending cycle.

May we all share hope, encouragement, kindness and joy in all that we do. Spread it thick like jelly on toast so that all can taste it.

Flower of the Day

Wow, this summer is really zooming by. My flowers have been amazing and I will miss them while they sleep. My Gerber daisies have really been nice and are my feature for today’s FOTD of Cee’s daily challenge for flower beauty.

Tomato blossom may nit be especially beautiful but it does give us a marvelous fruit to enjoy through the summer. Thought I would give them a high five. Remember that the little guys of life need encouragement, so remember to always be kind.

Flower In A Flower, FOTD

I am so enjoying the pictures from everyone…almost as much fun as I am having taking pictures of flowers that I see. Today we have a tiny part of a flower that looks to be a flower all its own. Amazing things you see when you focus on the small things of life…in reality they are all small things in comparison.

Can you see it?

Here is a close up…

The amazing creations of God as he shares his beauty with us. Thanks to Cee and her Flower of the Day page as well as all who share what they see. As we share our love of pictures, remember to share the kind feeling that they bring with their beauty.

Coffee Time = FOTD

Strange title, I know, but follow along and you will get my sad attempt at humor. Each Sunday after church we have a short social time with coffee, snacks and fellowship. I volunteered to provide the snacks and serve the coffee, tea and lemonade this week. So Friday I was going to make cookies for munching on. We wont go into my inability of reading a recipe properly and putting in a tablespoon of baking soda instead of a teaspoon or banana extract instead of vanilla. And that was only the first batch issue. The second batch disintegrated as I lifted them off the pan – even when cooled. So I gave up and went to the store this afternoon and bought coffee cake and strawberry yogurt to crumble the oatmeal cookie crumbles on top of, and grapes.

But while I was at the store I happened by the garden section, a dangerous place for me but I remained strong and bought nothing. Very proud of myself but I did get a picture for Cee’s Flower Of The Day. I love the tiny rose plants. They are so beautiful and I buy them only to have them never bloom again. Pretty green leaves but no flower – its that brown thumb thing again. So below is my entry for FOTD. Enjoy and have a great rest of your weekend.

Leaves are more in focus than the bloom but its still pretty.

And as always I throw the pebble out to remind all to be kind.

Lily, A Fragrance Like No Other, FOTD

On Monday of this week I walked into my office to see a vase of lovely lilies sitting on my desk. I saw no tag anywhere so I was not sure where they came from. I walked into the admin office and asked June if she knew anything about them. She said no and asked Kevin if he knew as he had been in my office fixing my computer – he is our IT guy. He said he brought them. His wife and picked them from their yard and had them in the living room. He was tired of smelling them so he brought them to the church, specifically my office, which I was okay with.

IMG_20190722_131718

So now it is Friday and they are still beautiful and very fragrant. I saw that someone had cut the pistols/stamens off and asked about that and was told it helps keep the smell from over whelming. “Oh,” I said, “so that why I smell them as soon as I come through the door of the church.” Whatever. The majority of the bulbs have now opened and this is what they looks like now.

IMG_20190726_105943

They really are marvelous, and while Cee’s FOTD is for a single flower, my prompt is for a single vase of multiple lilies. And I don’t know what the ball looking flower thingy is but it is fragrant as well. May you all have a wonderful weekend and remember to be kind.
