I Could Not Help It

I am doing some minor remodeling downstairs and I needed to go to Lowe’s for supplies. So as I came up to the register, they had in the aisle early bulbs coming up. I didn’t really need any bulbs but I could not help myself. I needed the proof that spring is actually coming.

So tired of the cold, so ready for the warmth of spring and the smell of flowers and the stores know this so that’s why they put these right by the registers. I admit it, I am weak and I fell to the ploy of management impulse buying techniques.

Once it does really look like spring, I know this year I will not have to buy as much as last year. A lot of bulbs already planted, hopefully the bitter -34 degrees didn’t destroy them. Time will tell. Until then enjoy what Mitch Teemly calls Sprinter.

And as the sun begins to shine more warmly, try to shine yourself more warmly and be kind. It is a brightness that is much needed.

Undying Love

Again I have been inspired by a photograph from Heaven’s Sunshine. Irene Tron takes wonderful pictures of nature which I have used several times to write about. Her photo called Holding On amazed me as the petals of one flower seem to wrap themselves around a fellow flower as it died. It spoke of the fellowship we should all have in taking care of each other as we go through the trials of life. If you have not visited Irene’s blog, I suggest it. It is a good read and has wonderful photography.

When remembering the beauty we both loved to see.

The swaying of the wind as it moved through our lives

Through good times and bad, we managed to survive.

Escapist Coloring Club Prompt

What fun each month Linda gives us when some of us love all of these coloring books, calendars or desk tops. I have gotten hooked lately with a different form of these books called etches. The pages have a form already on the sheet but then they cover it in black and then you scrape off as much of the black as you want. You get to be creative in a different way. Below are sample pages so you can see what I am talking about if you are not familiar with these, as I had not seen them either before I received a book at Christmas.

I posted one of my favorites just the other day for gc Weekly Prompts if you want to see it. It has butterflies. The one I am posting was also one I liked a lot but I dropped the tool and it made a scratch across it. I want not going to post it because of that issue but it has pretty colors on it as well so I am posting it.

Now that I have done a few, I have a little better idea of how the “stretch” the norm. You can see from the sample page that is the suggestion they made for this sheet and how I did it differently. Good or bad the artist is always in charge.

Other things people are in charge of is how they treat others around us. So I encourage you all to be kind. This world can be cruel and thoughtless at times so those that can must remember that one day we may really need kindness to be shared with us. So share where you can.

Art in the Cold

In everything God creates, if we look hard enough we will still see beauty. As I went to take out the trash this afternoon, I noticed how the snow clung to my new rock wall. I thought it interesting how it clung to some areas and yet totally missed others creating another interesting God type artwork.

I am big on patterns and coming from the quality control world sometimes those patterns can let you know if something is off or not. Now that I am retired, I just like to see what pattern emerge when I look at things. I have teased Irene of Heaven’s Sunshine on her post of Dark Star telling her where my quirky visual eye saw Mary and baby Jesus in her flower of the day.

And then today I told CitySonnet on her wonderful picture of a Pansy when I could see someone in yellow shirt with white sleeves and blue bell bottoms praising the heavens.

Its a fun way to share our individual quirky art side. Some of us more quirky than others but that is why art is so subjective. Its in the eye of the artist. Even with writing. My book is now fully complete and edited so I am trying to figure out what to do about publishing it – traditional or self publish. What are the pros and cons of each. Who is good, who can you trust. It a lot to process for a newby. Plus the content is really out there unless you are an avid dog lover who truly believes all dogs do go to heaven. LOL. But we will see. I am up for any advice anyone wants to share. Until then I will continue to share my quirkiness, fun side and kindness here in the blogusphere world.

As you share with each other here or even as you go about your day, I remind you to always be kind. Kindness is the light of Christ shining through us to help lighten the darkness of someone’s day.
