Fly After Honey? SMM

I have heard the saying of flies after honey but I always think of them after the sugars on our plates. Do they really go after honey in flowers? Apparently as my dianthus was covered.

Just be Kind

Its ALIVE, Who’da Thunk

The resilience of nature is truly amazing. A week or so ago I posted the demise of my banana tree left alone for 5 minutes with my new puppy. Lesson learned and tree was moved to the no puppy zone, aka my bedroom.

Damaged but not killed

They are a pretty hardy plants, after all they survive hurricanes, so I was hopefully. Today circumstance were perfect to sneak in a Sunday afternoon nap, and it was fabulous. But right as I got comfy my eye caught this…

A new leaf coming out of torn debris

I was so excited and told you that if I saw it reviving, I would post its picture. It lives. And as I lay there looking at it, I asked myself again “wonder how tall it is going to get”, after all the ceiling is only so high.

Nature is an amazing thing when you think about it. Think about ancient civilizations now gone and nature reclaiming the land. God’s amazing creation.

While thinking about the amazing attributes of nature, remember the amazing attributes of mankind. We too can be resilient in hard times and with God’s help we are an amazing creature. Remember to reflect the love in you from God to those around you to make His kindness radiate to others.

World Communion Sunday

WC Pic
WCS

World Communion Sunday is a celebration observed by several Christian denominations, taking place on the first Sunday of every October, that promotes Christian unity and ecumenical cooperation. It focuses on an observance of the Eucharist – the sharing of the bread and wine as taught by Jesus, that we also call communion.

It was started in the 30’s by a Presbyterian minister and within 10 years was spread to many other Christian denominations and now is across the world giving us the opportunity to pray for all of our Christian brother and sisters across the world.

Our church chose 6 random countries from the list of International Missions and prayed for those countries and some of their Global Servants who work in those countries with love, education, rebuilding, medical needs or anything else that may be needed.  We will be praying for them for the month of October with an emphasis on Water as many countries do not have clean or sufficient water supplies but to also pray that the Living Water be spread through out the world. Below are the 6 countries we are focusing on as we pray also for Living Water to flood the earth. But remember this is only 6 out the 195 countries in the world today. Even in our own countries, prayer is needed to spread the Living Waters of Christ.

I have a challenge for anyone who would like to jump in. I have about 300 people who read my blog. If each person would take one country of your choice, even it’s your own,  and say a quick prayer for that country, then throughout the month think of other countries and say a quick prayer. They will not know you are praying for them but I promise those prayer will not be wasted. No prayer is ever wasted.

Another thing that is never wasted….kindness. Share kindness where ever you go and watch the ripple effect of it spread out from you.

Escapist Coloring Club, October 2019

Linda G Hill has given us a fun monthly challenge of adult coloring or showing off your kids coloring. Today’s adult coloring books are great for me on nights when the brain just will not shut off.

This month’s Escapist Coloring prompt, I played more with feathering shades of colors together and blending them – similar to how I do some of my face painting techniques only this is done with pencils.

A rhinoceros made fully of flowers showing a gentle side of a possible fierce beast. Even in a creation of power, a spirit of gentleness and kindness can be present. It is a tool we all have and can use at our discretion, so remember to show your kind side and gentle spirit.

Food for a Dreary Day, #SoCS

Last night was a fantastic night at a Home Free Concert. If you are not familiar with them check out the video below.  They are an awesome a Capella country  group that makes all their instrument sounds with their own mouths – their percussionist Adam is unreal.

That being said, getting home after midnight is way past my bedtime so today is a sit at home, drippy rainy day of watching football and eating tasty fast food.

Linda G. Hill’s prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “-tast-.” Find a word that contains “tast” and use it in your post. Enjoy!

Even on a quiet stay at home day, you can still spread kindness. Its not always about seeing people face to face but having a tastefully kind spirit in all that you do.

Does Your Fridge Know You?

Who besides me loves refrigerator magnets?  I have many but love my smiley face ones. Recently I had to replace my refrigerator and the stuff that was all over my fridge fill a Walmart plastic bag. Sad. My fridge was suffocated by my stuff. Not all was junk, some was grandkid pictures, neat magnets of places I had been, thought provoking pictures and cartoons and etc.

IMG_20190401_165936
And of course reminders and appointments

We go in and out of our fridges multiple times a day so its a place that sometimes collects our happy thoughts. I know my does. Although I did clean up the new fridge a bit, after all, the grandbabies are now in school and no longer babies. It is now in a purposeful order, heart on the front, smiles on one side and important business card and data on the other side.

IMG_20191004_075118

Picture of me that was in the paper when I face painted for the kids park, precious pictures of dogs that show their heart, magnets my daughter cross stitched for me, and important reminders.

One side shows my two favorite B.C. cartoons, the all important recipe for instant mash potatoes because the box itself was destroyed and the potato flakes ended up in a plastic container and an reminder from a meeting at church on showing kindness. The other side show business cards for repairmen.

My refrigerator has become my visual communication board helping me to remember some appointment stuff while reminding me the important heart reminders of caring, kindness and ways to smile.

Does your fridge talk to you? Share of you like, its part of who we are.

As my fridge reminds me to smile and be kind, I also remind you to smile and be kind. You never know how that kind gesture may just change someone world.

Clampet-ville, One Liner Wednesday

My yard is no longer Clampet-ville.

You probably have to be familiar with American TV in the 60s to understand that phrase but my yard is no long looking like Clampet hillbilly junkyard poor mess.

I was a quality manager of a bucket manufacturer, my daughter had a new puppy that needed a fenced-in yard so rejected buckets filled with sand became a wall fence for a short dog, similar to this…for 5 years…enough.

This section still not finished

But these 3 areas are finished and looking great.

The new wall, a real wall

The side wall next to my Clampet-ville neighbors

I still have work to do here but its looking better. Neighbor over growth encroachment.

And last but not least as this was an 8 foot high over growth…you can see how bad it is still with my Clampet-ville neighbors. Enough already.

They still need to bring in more rock

They even found a ground hog living in that mess; the damage they can cause. Well this is my One Liner submission this week. Come join along with Linda’s fun prompt and play with 1 Liner Wednesday.

And as always, as you go through this day, always remember to be kind. You just might be that bright sunshine for someone’s dreary day.
