A Little Humor for Your Evening

I am a firm believer in the healing powers of laughter. It changes our current mindset so that we can “reboot”. A dear friend sent this to me and while you may have seen it before, read them again, smile, reboot and sing a long.

The highway hymns are more truth than humor….

Try to be lighthearted and kind. It may the spark you need to brighten your day as well as others.

The Real Bosses, CFFC

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge for this week is probably my favorite subject but we are telling the story from a different angle to ask the age old question….’Who really is the boss in my life?’

Is it Royal King Max who makes his demands known as he is fully aware when it gets to be 5:00 pm because  he is an excellent teller of time…..

anim3

Or maybe it is Police Chief Mimi who guards the roost and gives me those exasperated looks when I don’t jump to her panic state on her views of danger or the very idea that someone would walk on her sidewalk.

anim2.jpg

Although she knows when True Thief arrives she is immediately allowed out for the chase…as long as her 20 foot chain will allow. The True Thief get a double photo op for pose clarifications. Do note the onlooker’s disgust of the Thief stealing their goods.

Then of course there is Scrappy who hopes to pickup any tidbits left from Thief or dropped by others enjoying the goods that I put out for them.

Chip

And boy do they get bossy when the feeder is empty…pecking on the window and such…

So really who is the boss of this house…’cuz it sure ain’t us humans.

But I am sure they would all agree that kindness is a strong factor in all manners of life so remember to always be kind.

The Art of Relaxation, SoCS

Max n Mimi 2 (2)

Good day. My name is Mimi and this other…’doginthehouse’ is Max, he lives downstairs. Do excuse his goofy look, he can’t help it, he is a basset. The humans think he is adorable…whatever.

Due to my human’s excessively busy schedule this summer, she has totally forgotten how to relax so when she saw what the prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday by Linda Hill was, she went straight to the back of the house and became unconscious for awhile. The theme of the Saturday prompt seems to have something to do with being conscious, so  my goal is to give you proper instructions on the art of relaxation while remaining to be conscious at the same time…at least most of the time.

IMG_20190523_090243_1 (2).jpg

To start you day off right, you need to relax with the morning sun shining to warm your coat and get your blood pumping. This is especially important in the winter months. Max doesn’t care much for the bright morning light but his large ears are useful in hiding his eyes while he himself, looks relatively unconscious.

As the day goes, the sofa is a favorite place for comfort while allowing you to be ready for the occasion protection mode you may need to get in.

On those really hot days, there is almost no way to cool so you just have to get by yourself and do the best you can.

In the winter, the sofa where mom had been sitting is the best, still warm. Good for snuggling down.

But I guess if you have had a really tough day, being unconscious is always a option if there is not other way for recharging.

We hope you enjoyed our instructions on the proper way to relax. Have a safe and blessed day.

Oh, and always, always remember smile and to be kind as much as possible.

All Have Their Purpose; 1LinerWed, FOTD

“And we know that all things work together for good”…Romans 8:28.

IMG_20190710_161505

Mother nature is a finely tuned system to balance all parts of creations for the full support of the whole system.

Linda Hill’s challenge of 1LinerWed and Cee’s challenge of Flower of the Day are both pulled together here to show the beauty of the sun, blue sky, a sunflower and a bee – all doing their part in the system of nature.

And as always, remember to be kind to all things, even when its hard or if you have to run…

Bicycling for Two; BOTD

She said: I told you this was the wrong way. You missed that turn back there.

He said: Last thing I need is a back seat driver, especially when you are still eating.

She said: No one said you had to leave the table earlier.

He said: You and your friends were crowding me.

She said: Do you want me to come drive?

He said: No, I’ll just turn around at the next corner.

Bikeride

Thank you for reading my silliness. He sat there for the longest time while she still ate. I had to write about it. It reminded me of many road trips. Granny Shot It has a Bird of the Day Challenge and while people are showing beautiful pictures of many different birds – I have my yard birds and firmly believe this pair of Goldfinches is a couple. They are always together.

I hope my quirky writing made you smile and if it did then share that smile and the warmth it brings to others. Not everyone is having a good day with smiles, so if you share yours, then maybe they will smile and create a contagious condition called smile-a-thon. So smile often and be kind and remember God loves you.

BOTD: Plural, Sharing

These are some of my favorite friends. They actually get along and share…better than some people I know. Today we enjoy another BOTD from Granny Shot It. Come share your lovely birds with others.

And if birds can share and be kind to one another, we ought to be able to be kind with all of creation as well. However, I do get tired of this one type of ground bird that hogs all the seed unless Mimi is on guard. She will bark at them for being pigs and run them off.

My Birds Flowers, FOTD, July 8

In joining in with Cee’s challenge of Flower of the Day, I present to you my guest helpers – the birds in my yard.

The birds have been most helpful this year in making sure I had sunflowers growing in the yard since I did not plant any this year. And they showed some variety as some are taller, some flowers are larger some have different color centers.

The one above has the largest leaves and flowers. It’s bloom is a bright yellow like the petals. You can see it is taller than my mailbox and shepherd’s hook.

These two are taller than the one by the mail box, their leaves are smaller and they themselves have different color centers and petal structure. One is orangey yellow with short fat leaves and one is brown with long skinny leaves. I still have others that have not quite opened yet so we will see how they come out.

Sunflowers are like a large version of a daisy – they are a happy flower. I hope you seeing these happy flowers today will bring you a smile. And if it does, then share that smile and make someone else’s days brighter.

Sunday Fun, Night on the Town

He said:  Hey hon, there is a new place to eat in town. Let’s try it.

She said:  Is this another one of your hole in the wall places.

He said:  No, I promise, it’s the good stuff. And I hear its fresh.

She said:  Hmmm. Well, the kids are gone and it would be nice for just you and I to get out together.

He said: Great. I hear they have two separate menus but they just hung a fresh bag.

She said:  A fresh bag of what?? Gross.

He said:  Trust me hon. You will love it. I promise.

She said:  I have always been told when the phrase ‘Trust me’ is used to fly, fly, away.

He said:  Just come try it.

She said:  You are so right. These thistle seeds are the best and so fresh.   He said:  TOLD YOU!

Chuckle and smile along with me as I enjoy my goldfinches. I did just hang out a new bag as they devoured the last one – even with all the rain we have had. You can see to the side of the picture the sunflowers the birds planted. That one bloom should open this week. I will post pictures of the flowers my birds have planted sometime this week.

Have a great week and remember to always be kind. Even when you don’t feel like it or they don’t deserve it. It will make YOU feel better.

Spellcheck Not Enough

There have been several complaints going across the waves of WordPress about them eliminating the spellcheck feature and while that is a concern and something I use each time I am at the computer…with me, that just isn’t enough – I need a WORD check. I apologize to all who read my words…I promise I do re-read and edit before I post…yet I still miss blatant errors. It’s embarrassing…I even went to college! – like that would make a difference.

Recently I posted on my Instagram page to come over and see my blog for encouragement, flowers, dogs and silliness. So I went through the Instagram site to see how they would see things…”oh mi gudness”!! How did I miss that, oh and look at that dumbness…so embarrassing.

loser
Loser

So yes, I feel like a dingbat but I remember reading an article where your brain knows what you are trying to say or read and does it for you eliminating the error in your brain. Even those silly games where the letters in the center are wrong and if you can still read the sentence, you are supposed to be smart. Yea I am good at that but still mess up here. Good grief.

And for those of us with ADD or who have brains that go two sentences ahead of what you are trying to say or do, its a real problem, especially if you are trying to convey and important message.

So I apologize in advance and hope that is not the reason you would never be interest in the book I am getting published this fall. I have editors to fix that nonsense. But if you are a lover of dogs and a believer in the rainbow bridge, it may be a book of interest to make you laugh or not, no pressure.

Regardless, I appreciate you stopping by to read my blog, even with my poor editing ability. Hope those mistakes can now bring a smile to your face as it does mine. We have to be able to laugh at ourselves and the silly harmless mistakes we make and go on without it dragging us mentally down a dark tunnel. Life is too short for that.  Laugh and let those around laugh with you, then re-punt or start over.

And in all things, remember to always be kind. That kindness you share, even when you don’t feel kind, may be the very thing to remove that dark cloud that has engulfed you.

Funny animals

I don’t care what anyone say, animals have personalities and are funny. There are even websites dedicates to pictures of animals doing funny things. And now there is a TV show about animals doing funny things. I think we humans think animals are funny because we try to relate to them in a human manner. I laugh at the picture below because it reminds me of what my brother said in the caption to me all the time when growing up. He was not allowed to tell me to shut-up.

“Your mouth is open. Close it.”

Going to work this morning I had to laugh at what I saw. I could not stop to take a picture as I was on the bridge going over the Mississippi with morning traffic and rain. Yes more rain. Sometimes you get to the point where you laugh about the continuing mess as long as no one is getting hurt. We have been very fortunate in that from this continuance of this mess. But humor is where we are with the ridiculousness of this current flood – since mid March. The river is finally coming down and around the ball field there is a lower walkway with a chain link fence on the river side. The fence is your standard 4 foot high which stands another 2 feet above the river, 6 feet of water height where water should not be. That fence is just now beginning to show. Today the top rail was about 1/2 exposed, enough for the ducks trying to line up and sit on it. The current is still very swift so you got about 8 ducks in a row trying to sit on a rail as the current rips by them periodically pulling them back into the river. I chuckled the rest of the way to work. Animals doing funny things.

Thank you to all the photographers in the world that capture life’s funny moments that makes us all smile. And remember smiling is infectious. If you smile at someone, it forces them to smile back. So smile often and always be kind.
